An item reported that in the night of 24-25 August Allied bombers attacked the Japanese airdromes at Vunakanau, Lukanua and Gasmata (Bismarck Archipelago). In the harbour of Rabaul were three possible cruisers, 4 destroyers, 9 merchant ships, 1 whaling factory ship and 1 tanker sighted.
