An item reported that in Italy the new department Mercantile Merchant Commission was to be established. It included the former Captain of the Port Department now part of the Department of Navy. The new department was to became responsible for all such matters as nautical schools and training ships, the necessary legislation and regulations, subsided ships and lines and port works and other matters all in benefit of the merchant marine.
