German survey vessel SMS Planet visited the Dutch East Indies in 1910

The Jaarboek van de Koninklijke Nederlandsche Zeemacht 1910-1911 reported that the German survey vessel SMS Planet visited Makasser between 23-25 October 1910 and Ambon, Dutch East Indies between 28-30 October 1910. The newspapers did not mention this visit. According to the Bataviaasch nieuwsblad dated 29 December departed she with the Embden and Nürnberg to Ponape to investigate the murder of German servants during the uprising in the Carolines as a result of new road construction.(1)

1. Launched by AG Weser, Bremen, Germany on 2 August 1905, commissioned on 16 November 1905, in 1914 serving in the German North Pacific Islands and scuttled off Yap part of the Caroline Islands to prevent capture by Japan.
