An item dated Singapore 14th reported that Americans salvaged the Spanish battleship Reina Christina flagship of admiral Montojo which was destroyed by the American fleet commanded by admiral Dewey. On board were the remains of 80 crewmembers found and the hull of the ship was pierced by 15 grenades. The American authorities offered a funeral with military ceremony but the Spanish representative decided to sent the remains to Spain.(1)
