An item dated Toulon, France 12th reported that the French battleship Magenta (1) assisted the off Salins d’Hyère stranded and burning steamship Adria from Fiume, Austria-Hungaria nowadays Rijeka, Croatia]. The Magenta signalled in the meantime for more assistance.

1. Part of Marceau-class ironclad barbette ships, preceded by Hoche, succeeded by the Charles Martel-class (never realized) and Brennus, building ordered on 7 October 1880, laid down at Toulon, France on 18 January 1883, launched on 19 April 1890, commissioned on 29 October 1893 and sold in 1911.
