The ships available for disposal were military conversions which would have after reconversion into a cargo ship the following characteristics. Shelter deck. Passenger accommodation for 12 persons 6 staterooms. Dimensions 468.8½ (over all) x 63.0 (molded) x 40.6 (molded depth) x 27.4 (load draught molded) feet, deadweight 10,700 tons, gross tonnage 6,170 tons, net tonnage3,520 tons and bale capacity 568.457 cubic feet. The turbine propulsion supplied 6,000 shp normal allowing a speed of 15.5 knots.
