An item reported that a damaged German submarine entered on 2 May the harbour of Cartagena, Spain was apparently sold to Spain. For completing the ongoing repairs still about a half year needed. The German crew seemed to be interned.(1)

The U-573, building ordered on 24 October 1939, laid down by Blohm&Voss, Hamburg, Germany with yard number 549 on 8 June 1940, launched on 17 April 1941, commissioned on 5 June 1941, was interned at Cartagena on 2 May after being damaged due to depth charges north west of Algiers, Algeria, and indeed sold to Spain on 2 August 1942, commissioned as The G-7, renamed S-01 in 1961, stricken on 2 May 1970 and scrapped.
