Cuban gunboat Patria 1911-1955

Original postcard Chocolate La Estrella

Launched by Cramp, Philadelphia, USA on 10 August 1911, completed in 1911 and discarded in 1955. With a displacement of 1,100 (normal)-1,200 (full load) tons and as dimensions 61.0 (between perpendiculars) x 11.0 x 4.00 metres. The propulsion consisted of 2 vertical triple expansion steam engines and Babcock boilers supplying via 2 shafts 4,000 hp allowing a speed of 16 knots. Coal bunker capacity 150 tons; in 1942 were the boilers converted for to oil-firing. Crew numbered 115 men. Original armament consisted of 2x1-5.7cm MK I/II cal 40 guns, 1-4.7cm MK I/II cal 40 gun and 4x1-3.7cm Mk II/III cal 40 guns; in 19542 changed into 3x1-7.66cm guns and 2 DCT.
