An item reported that the French battleship Friedland (1) and cruiser Duguesclin (2) were stricken from the navy list. Na removal of parts like the guns, engines and boilers were both ships to be sold.

1. Central battery ironclad, preceded by Océan-class, succeeded by Richelieu, laid down at Lorient, France in January 1865, launched on 25 October 1873, completed on 20 June 1877and stricken on 10 October 1904.
2. Part of Vauban-class ironclad barbette ships, preceded by Bayard-class, succeeded by Terrible-class, laid down at Rochefort, France in March 1877, launched on 7 April 1883, commissioned on 1 January 1886, stricken 19 October 1904 and broken up in 1905.
