Japanese special purpose submarines I-13 and I-14

Built end 1944 begin 1945 of which the I-14 remained. With a displacement of 2.640 (standard)-3.603 (normal)-3.894 (emergency)-4.762 (submerged) tons and as dimensions 113.7 (over all) x 11.7 x 5.89 metres. Lenght between perpendiculars 356 feet, length PH 305 feet and emergency draught 20.7 feet. Diving depth 100 metres. Diving time 50 seconds. Submerged endurance 20 hours with a speed of 3 knots. Armament consisted of 6-21” type 95 (forward) torpedo tubed, 2x3&1x1-2.5cm guns. Ammunition carried 11.200-2.5cm rounds. Carried with her 2 special ‘S’class patrol seaplanes. Battery Type 1 mod 13 11.200 AH, 240 cells, 240 volts. Engines 2 mk 22 mod 10, four cycle supplying 4.400 shp. Motors 2 direct drive special mod 8 supplying 1.000 KW. Fuel bunker capacity 335.000 gallon. Speed 17 (surfaced)-5.5 (submerged) tons. Range 20.000 nautical miles with a speed of 16 knots, 90 days. Riveted double hull made of medium steel with a maximum diameter of 19.03 feet, maximum thickness 1.06 diminishing to .867.71 aft and frame spacing 23.4 circular cross section except in forward torpedo room (intersecting circles with one torpedo room over the other. Crew numbered 127 men including 15 officers.
