Spanish armoured cruiser Cardenal Cisneros 1890-1905

Part of the Princessa de Asturias class armoured cruisers preceded by Infanta Maria Téresa-class, laid down by Ferrol Dockyard, Spain in 1890, launched on 19 March 1897, commissioned in 1902 and lost when run aground on 28 October 1905. General technical details. Displacement 6,888 tons and as imensions 110.97 x 18.59 x 6.61 metres or 364.1 x 61.0 x 21.8 feet. Horsepower 14,800 hp supplied via 2 shafts allowing a speed of 20 knots. Crew numbered 542 men. Armour consisted of a belt with a thicknesss of 30,2cm/11.88”, a 5.7cm/2.25” thick deck with the conning tower, barbette and turrets protected by respectively 20.0cm/7.88”, 20.cm/7.88” and 9.9cm/3.88”. Armament consisted of 2x1-24cm/9.4” guns, 8x1-14cm/5.5” guns and 8-5.7cm/2.2” guns.
