Part of the Princessa de Asturias class armoured cruisers preceded by Infanta Maria Téresa-class, laid down by Cartagena Navy Yard, Spain in 1890, launched on 24 September 1900, commissioned in 1903 and discarded in 1929. General technical details. Displacement 6,888 tons and as dimensions 110.97 x 18.59 x 6.61 metres or 364.1 x 61.0 x 21.8 feet. Horsepower 14,800 hp supplied via 2 shafts allowing a speed of 20 knots. Crew numbered 542 men. Armour consisted of a belt with a thicknesss of 30,2cm/11.88”, a 5.7cm/2.25” thick deck with the conning tower, barbette and turrets protected by respectively 20.0cm/7.88”, 20.cm/7.88” and 9.9cm/3.88”. Armament consisted of 2x1-24cm/9.4” guns, 8x1-14cm/5.5” guns. And 8-5.7cm/2.2” guns.
