Based on the Royal Schelde Enforcer design resulting in the Dutch Rotterdam and Spanish Galicia classes amphibious warfare ships. Building ordered on 19 November 2001, laid down by BAE Systems, Govan, Scotland on 25 August 2002, launched on 9 Apil 2004 and commissioned on 13 July 2006.
