German armoured cruiser SMS Friedrich Karl 1901-1914

Built under the Second Naval Law. Part of Prinz Adalbert-class cruisers, preceded by Prinz Heinrich succeeded by Roon, laid down with contractname Ersatz König Wilhelm by Blohm&Voss, Hamburg, Germany with yard number 155 in August 1901, launched on 21 June 1902, commissioned on 12 December and due to striking Russian naval mines sunk off Memel [Klaipeda]. Lithuania underway towards Libau [Liepaja], Latvia on 17 November 1914.
