Part of Zara-class heavy cruisers preceded by Trento-class succeeded by Bolzano. Laid down by Cantiere navale fratelli Orlando, (O.T.O.), Livorno, Italy in March 1930, launched on 28 December 1930, commissioned on 31 December 1931, in German hands since September 1943 but too heavily damaged in an Allied air attack and left behind, damaged by an attack by British and Italian frogmen in 1944 and broken up in 1946-1947
