Japanese-Peruvian joint whaling venture founded according to the Commercial Fisheries Review dated August-September 1967 No. 8-9

An item reported that the Japanese Nippon Kinkai Hogei and Peruvian interests signed early September a provincial agreement to found a joint whaling venture. The Japanese company would use Paita as her base for the whaling cruises until March 1968, handed over her catch to the Peruvian processors and buy back the meat which was shipped to Japan for consumption. The Japanese Fisheries Agency and Peruvian government were first to approve the agreement before a 3,000 tons refrigerated vessel and the whale catchers Tokachi Maru Nos. 7-8 and 10 were sent to Peru.
