American whaler Josephine arrived at Mongonui, New Zealand according to the Australian newspaper The Sydney Morning Herald dated 13 February 1860

An item dated Mongonu, New Zealand 23 January reported the American whaler Josephine 446 tons master J.D. Chapman of New Bedford 6 months out 530 barrels whale oil. Lost on 30 December southward of New Holland a boat with on board the chief officer and 5 men while chasing a whale, no survivors boat salvaged.
