An item reported that since begin 1963 a Norwegian master fishermen sent by the Food and Agriculture Organization with success educated Philippine fishermen how to use purse-seine nets. The private Philippine company which acted as experiment now operated 5 purse-seine vessels almost the year round. Eleven carrier vessels shipped the catch to metropolitan markets. The company was now joined by others and expected was that at the end of 1964 30 such vessels were to be active.The caught fish like mackerel in the Sulu Sea was after she hauled on board covered by ice thrown over from the carriers, shoved into tubs and next hoisted on board of the carrier for further transport.
