Number of enemy submarines in North American waters decreased according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 27 April 1942

An item reported that the number of enemy submarines active in the North American waters was (temporarily) decreased. Around 8 were homeward bound and at least 13 outward bound as replacement. The number present in the longitudes west of the Azores was estimated to be still 30.
