Japanese cargo ship Shinano Maru/Sinano Maru 1900-1951

Call sign JSND. Launched by D.&W. Henderson&Co., Glasgow, Scotland on 31 January 1900, completed in April 1900, requisitioned by the army as troop transport in 1904-1905, converted into an auxiliary cruiser in March 1905 (2x1-15.2cm/6” guns, present at the Battle of Tsushima and broken up in 1951. Gross tonnage 6,146-6,254 tons, under deck 5,395 tons, net tonnage 3,889 tons, deadweight 6,740 tons and as dimensions 445.3 x 49.5 x 30.4 x 11.7 (light)-25.5 (loaded) feet. Reciprocating propulsion, 2 screws, 580 nhp, coal bunker capacity 1,219 tons, range 7,700 miles/8 knots and speed 8 (normal cruising)-9.5 (maximum) knots.
