Japanese naval airmen were trained in operating the Grumman Sentinel S2F aircraftaccording to the Australia Station Intelligence Summary dated 1 October 1956

An item reported that during 9 months 60 Japanese naval airmen were trained on board of the American aircraft carrier USS Princeton in operating the Grumman Sentinel S2F aircraft. The Sentines usually was operated as an carrier-borne anti submarine craft and before the end of the 1956-1957 Fiscal Year were some to be handed over to Japan.
