Danube flottilla supported Bulgarian attack according to the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 10 October 1916

An item dated Sofia, Bulgaria 9 October reported that Bulgarian forces supported by the Danube flotilla occupied an island in the eastern entrance of the Belene canal west of Zimnicea [Romania on left bank Danube]. Except for 152 military taken prisoner were 6 guns captured.
