Japanese destroyer Murasame 1934-1943

Shiratsuyu-class 

Ordered under Fiscal Year 1931, laid down by Fujinagata Shipyards on 1 Feburary 1934, launched on 20 June 1935, commissioned on 7 January 1937, torpedoed and sunk by the American destroyer USS Waller on 5 March 1943 and stricken on 1 April 1943. Part of Shiratsuyu-class destroyers preceded by Hatsuharu-class, succeeded by Asashio-class. Consisted of Shiratsuyu, Shigure, Murasame, Yudachi, Harusame, Samidare, Umikaze, Yamakaze, Kawakaze and Suzukaze.

Standard displacement 1,712 tons. Speed 34 knots. Armament 2x2&1x1-12.7cm/5” cal 50 Type 3 naval guns, 2x1-13mm Type 93 machine guns, 2x4-61cm/24” torpedo tubes for which 16 Type 9 3 torpedoes were carried and 16 depth charges.
