USA-flagged, homeport Newport News, Virginia, USA, IMO 6916433, MMSI 366574000, ON 520743 and call sign KAFQ. Laid down by Bath Iron Works, Bath, Maine, USA under MARAD contract MA 207 (Marine Administration C5-S-73b type) as the container ship CV Stag Hound with hull No. 356 on 27 November 1967, launched on 2 November 1968, delivered to the MARAD on 20 June 1969, operated by the American Export-Isbrandtsen Lines, sold to Farrell Lines in 1978, returned to the MARAD, laid up, converted in to the Gopher Stat-class crane ship Cornhusker State between 1987-1988, completed on 12 April 1988 and part of the Ready Service since 1993. Part of the Ready Reserve Force of the United States, operated by the Military Sealift Comman. Unarmed. Crew numbers 10 (reduced operational status)-89 (full operational status) civilian sailors. Displacement 31,500 tons and as dimensions 203.73 x 23.19 x 10.21 metres or 668.5 x 76.1 x 33.6 feet. Propulsion consists of 2 Combustion Engineering boilers and 2 General Electric geared turbines supplying via 1 screw 10,747 shp and a speed of 17 knots. Cargo capacity 300 containers minimum.
