Norwegian whale factory ship N.T. Nielsen-Alonso arrived at Hobart, Tasmania according to the newspaper The Mercury dated Monday 15 October 1928

An item reported that the Norwegian whaler N.T. Nielsen-Alonso with her 5 catchers Pol.’s anchored at the Queens Pier, Hobart, Tasmania preparing for the third season in the Ross Sea, Antarctic.(1)

1. Whale factory ship, Norway-flagged, homeport Larvik, built by C. Connell&Co. Ltd., Glasgow, Scotland as the screw steam ship Custodian in 1900, renamed Polcevera in 1923 and renamed and converted into whale factory ship N.T. Nielsen-Alonso in 1926, torpedoed by the German submarine U-753 underway from the United Kingdom to the USA as part of convoy ON-166 and scuttled by the Polish destroyer ORP Burza on 22 February 1943. Tonnage 9,348 tons
