An item reported that Japan was building 4 battleships with a displacement of 43,000 tons, a speed of 27 knots and a main armant of 12-40,6cm (?) guns. The names ware unknown, two of the ships were laid down in 1940. And one called Kasino laid down by Mitsubishi in August 1938, launched on 5 November 1940. The launching of the Kasino (1) was certain but it could be a 40,000 tons battleship or as 12,000-14,000 ton battle cruiser.

Note

1. Other sources calling her a pocket battleship. Possible misunderstanding for the Japanese ammunition ship IJN Kashino laid down by Mitusbishi Heavy Industries, Nagasaki, Japan on 1 July 1939, launched on 26 January 1940, commissioned on 10 July 1940 and sunk by the American submarine USS Growler north east of Taiwan on 4 September 1942.
