Similar Taian Maru, Taigen Maru and Yosyu Maru. Call sign JITB. Built by Skinner&Eddy Corporation, Seattle, Washington, USA for Stolt-Nielsen B.&Sønner A.s, Haugesund, Norway in 1916, delivered in November 1916, sold and renamed in August 1926 and torpedoed and sunk by the American submarine USS Gurnard about 75 nautical miles of Cabo Bojeaor, Luzon, Philippines on 8 October 19431943. Gross tonnage 5,655 tons, under deck 5,155 tons, net tonnage 4,236 tons and as dimensions 409.6 x 54.0 x 27.1 x 8 (light)-24 (loaded feet). Steam turbine propulsion, 507 nhp horsepower, and 10 (normal cruising)-11 (maximum) knots speed. Bunker oil capacity 1,200 tons. Range 8,000 nautical miles/10 knots.
