Similar Taian Maru, Taigen Maru and Yosyu Maru. Call sign JIVB. Laid down by Skinner&Eddy Corporation, Seattle, Washington, USA for Stolt-Nielsen B.&Sønner A.s, Haugesund, Norway in May 1916, launched in September 1916, completed in November 1916 and lost in an air attack in 1945. Gross tonnage 5,711 tons, under deck 5,169 tons, net tonnage 4,3650 tons and as dimensions 411.6 x 54.2 x 27.1 x 8 (light)-24 (loaded feet). Steam turbine propusion, 507 nhp horsepower, and 10 (normal cruising)-11 (maximum) knots speed. Bunker oil capacity 1,200 tons. Range 8,000 nautical miles/10 knots.
