An item referred to a statement of the British Admiralty reporting that the in 1934 built 5,200 tons cruiser HMS Galatea was torpedoed and sunk by a German submarine.(1)

1. Pennant 71. Part of Arethusa-class light cruisers preceded by Leander-class succeeded by Town- and Dido-classes. Laid down by Scotts Shipbuilding and Engineering Company, Greenock, Scotland on 2 June 1933, launched on 9 August 1934, commissioned o 14 August 1935 and sunk by the German submarine U-557 off Alexandria, Egypt on 14 December 1941.
