An item reported the launching of the 10,000 tons bulk carrier Lake Barrine by Evans Deakin&Co. Ltd., Brisbane, Australia for account of the Australian Shipping Board on 16 December 1955. It was believed that she would be completed by the first half of 1956. She was the first of the four of the Lake-class to be built for the Board, the second one was the Lake Colac.(1)
