Built by R. Napier&Sons, Glasgow, Scotland between 1865-1866 and presented with a model of a monitor to the Dutch Minister of Navy as pre designs for the first generation of armoured ships of the Royal Netherlands Navy. The model is used for building the Zr.Ms. Buffel by Napier and the Matador (renamed) Guinea at Amsterdam, Netherlands.
