German aircraft dropped mines in the British Humber and Thames areas in December 1939

An item reported that German aircraft dropped mines in the British Humber and Thames areas and which were especially active in the night of 5-6 December 1939. An item reported that the measures taken since the Weekly Résumé No.13 to limit the number of navigational lights were successful. Patrol vessels had earlier reported that the German aircraft used the still burning lights as much a spossible. Several dropped mines were dropped in positions where the could be swept with compartive ease.
