British naval force in Western Mediterranean attacked without success by enemy aircraft according to the War Cabinet Weekly Résumé No. 45of the Naval, Military and Air Situation 4-12 July 1940

An item reported that enemy aircraft attacked on 9 July without success except for some near misses the British naval force in the Western Mediterranean but instead loosing 4 aircraft with another 7 damaged. The British force consisted of 1 battleship, 1 aircraft carrier, 1-6” (light) cruiser and 10 destroyers carrying out a sweep.
