Proposal by William Haggett of the floating battery Prince of Wales A.2 dated 1862

Described in NPC9314 as “Gun deck over one vessel 70 guns with supplemental power fo extra speed and turning round”. Drawing NPC9315 is title ‘Battery with one vessel 70 guns” and shows “a combined deck floating battery, a single deck floating battery and the framing and plating”.Design of architect William Haggrtt from Sherborne, Dorset, England.(2)

1. William Haggett (1808-1887), architect of profession and surveyot. Held some patents including Haggett’s Improved Method of Treating Metals&c. to increase their strength, filed 20 September 1859 and one dated 24 April 1862 for improvements in locomotive engines and carriages for railroads, tram and common roads.
