Runway at India airfield I.N.S. Garuda still not extended according to the Australia Station Intelligence Summary dated 1 August 1955

An item reported that the full development of the Indian naval aviation programme was delayed while the extending of the main runway at the Cochin airfield was shelved. This airfield was commissioned in May 1953 under the name of I.N.S. Garuda. Available at the moment were 10 Short Sealand amphibian aircraft and 10 single-seater fighters.
