Training ship Svir of the Baltic Fleet sighted in August 1936 according to report No. 9711 dated 19 February 1937

An item referred to the US report dealing with the training exercises of the Soviet Baltic Fleet in August 1936. It supplemented the reports 9697-7040 and 9699-7040. It mentioned the training ship, sighted for the first time on 29 July and since then regularly sighted. Length about 140-150 metres and displacement 6,000-8,000 tons. She looks like a passenger steamship.(1)

1. The former Dutch cargo-passenger steamship Patria, ordered by Rotterdamsche Lloyd, Rotterdam, Netherlands on 22/24 September 1914, laid down by Kon. Mij. De Schelde, Vlissingen with yard number 160 on 1 December 1915, launched on 20 May 1916, launched on 12 July 1919, delivered on 30 July 1919, sold to the Soviet Union in May 1935, after the Second World War converted in the Netherland sin the Alexandr Mozhaisky and broken up at Hong Kong in 1979
