Austrian submarine SMS XVII torpedoed anonymous passenger ship according to the Kriegsnachrichten of the Chef des Admiralstabes der Marine dated Berlin 23 August 1917

An item reported that the Austrian submarine SMS XVII torpedoed on 16 August in the South Adriatic an anonymous ‘secured’ passenger steamship of about 1,000 tons. The ship stopped but if she sunk was not observed.
