An item reported that according to Spanish newspapers the anonymous steamship sunk on 30 July by the German submarine SMS U 39 was the British steamship Ganges of 4,177 ton, loaded with around 7,000 ton coal bound for Italy. Her crew arrived at Gibraltar.
