British destoyer leader HMS Broke collided with Turkish merchant ship ss Ussvasi Hakki according to the War Cabinet Weekly Résumé No. 45of the Naval, Military and Air Situation 4-12 July 1940

An item reported that the British destroyer leader HMS Broke (1) while escorting a convoy in the Western Approaches collided with the Turkish merchant ship ss Ussvasi Hakki. The Broke was holed above the waterline, the Turkish ship sunk.

1. Thornycroft destroyer leader. Original name Rooke. Ordered in April 1918, laid down with yard number 983 by John I. Thornycroft&Company, England in October 1918, launched on 16 September 1920, renamed Brooke in April 1921, commissioned on 15 April 1925, heavily damaged during Operation Terminal when troops were landed at Algiers, French Algeria on 8 November 1942 and sunk on 10 November 1942.
