Part of Minotaur-class (also known as Swiftsure-class after 1944) preceded by Fiji-class (also called Colony and Crown Colony-class) and succeeded by planned Neptune-class and realized by Tiger-class. Laid down by Harland&Wolff, Belfast, Northern Ireland with yard number 1171 on 20 November 1941, launched on 29 July 1943, transferred to the Royal Canadian Navy in July 1944, commissioned as HMCS Ontario on 25 May 1945, decommissioned on 15 October 1958 and arrived at Osaka, Japan on 19 November 1960 to be broken up.
