Part of Tribal or Afridi-class destroyers which were built for the British Royal Navy, Royal Canadian Navy and Royal Australian Navy preceded by I-class succeeded by J-class. During the designing process played the design study Design V for a small fleet cruiser an important role as base. A variant of Design V played a similar role for the Dido-class cruisers. Laid down by the Cockatoo Docks and Engineering Company on 15 November 1939, launched on 30 November/1 December 1940, commissioned on 30 March 1942, modernized and reclassified as anti-submarine destroyer between 1949-1952, decommissioned on 21 December 1956, added to the operational reserve, sold to be broken up but instead sunk while towed off Broken Bay on 13 February 1969.
