British merchant ship Magog sunk by enemy submarine according to the War Cabinet Weekly Résumé No. 45 of the Naval, Military and Air Situation 4-12 July 1940

An item reported that on 5 July the British merchant ship Magog, tonnage 2,058 tons, loaded with lumber, underway from Halifax, Canada to Proston [Australia?] was lost due to gunfire and torpedo 80 miles south west of Fastnet. Not part of convoy.Crew landed at Queenstown.
