The Peruvian cruiser Aguirre (CH-84) the former Dutch Hr. Ms. De Zeven Provinciën

Laid down at the Rotterdamsche Droogdok Maatschappij at Rotterdam, Netherlands 5 September 1939, launched 19 December 1941, commissioned as the Hr.Ms. De Zeven Provinciën in the Dutch Royal Navy, sold to the Peruvian navy March 1973 and handed over August 1976. Here she was commissioned 24 February 1978 as the Aguirre (CH-84), decommissioned 21 March 1999 and scrapped 2000. Her homeport was Callao. Her sister ship was the still existing De Ruyter (now in Peruvian service called Almirante Grau). Displacement 9,681 tons standard and 12,165 tons full load with as dimensions 187,32 x 17,25 x 6,72m and a draft of 11,65m.The 4 Werkspoor-Yarrow three-drum boilers combined with 2 De Schelde Parsons turbines delivered 85,000 ship allowing a speed of 32 knots. Her crew numbered 653 men. She was armed with 2-x2 152 mm guns, 3x2 60mm guns and 470mm guns and 3 ASH-3D Sea King helicopters. The armour existed of a 50-765mm belt, 50-125mm gun turrets and a 50-125mm conning tower. The plans to fit her out with Exocet missiles were never full filled (first drawing).
