Shell ordered the building of 8 tankers at Dutch shipyards according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwsblad van het Noorden dated 20 November 1937

An item reported that the Koninklijke Shell ordered the building of 8 large tankers by Dutch shipyards. The Nederlandsche Scheepsbouw Maatschappij 2-15,000 tons tankers, Wilton Fijenoord 3-12,000 tons tankers, Rotterdamsche Droogdok Maatschappij 1-12,000 ton tanker and the Nederlandsche Dok Maatschappij at Amsterdam and the Firma v.d. Giessen at Krimpen each 1-9,000 ton tanker. Total building costs 18.000.000 Dutch guilders.(1)
