Algerian naval preparations and the visit of the Venetian admiral Emo according to the Dutch magazine Maandelyksche Nederlandsche Mercurius De Maandelyksche Nederlandsche Mercurius dated September 1767

A tiding from Algiers reported that the three largest chebecqs respectively armed with 26, 28 and 32 guns were prepared to depart towards sea. The Venetian admiral Angelo Emo who arrived at Algiers with his squadron to restore the peace between Venice and Algiers. The Dey however made clear that Venice had to accept his proposals or otherwise could Emo return home. The next day Emo indeed left with some Algerian privateers sent to watch him.
