Portuguese representatives trying to buy tankers in the USA according to the Dutch newspaper Het Vaderland dated 28 April 1941

An item reported that representatives of the Portuguese navy and merchant navy arrived at New York with the intention to buy ships especially tankers of maximum 10,000 tons while it was expected that in the coming months Portuguese inland needs for petrol were to be considerable.
