Large number of German merchant ships interned or seized according to the Dutch newspaper Rotterdamsch Nieuwsblad dated 13 August 1914

An item reported that more as 2.000 German merchant ships were interned in harbours or seized. The French torpedo boat Escopette arrived in Dunkirk with a captured German 4-master loaded with 2.000 tons grain. Another sailing ship was hold up to Calais.
