Russian armoured cruiser Rossiya 1893-1922


Laid down at the Baltic Works, St. Petersburg, Russia in October 1893, launched on 30 April 1896, commissioned in end 1896 and finally sold to be broken up on 1 July 1922, underway grounded on the Estonian coast, refloated, towed to Kiel, Germany and broken up.

Displacement 12.391 tons/12.195 long tons and as dimensions 147,8 x 20,3 x 8,0 metres or 485 x 66.6 x 26.2 feet, The 3shafts 2 vertical triple expansion steam engines and 1 vertical triple expansion cruising engine and 32 Belleville water tube boilers supplied 14.500 ihp+2.500 ihp allowed a speed of 19 knots and with a speed of 10 knots and a maximum coal bunker capacity of 2.235 tons/2.220 long tonsa range of 7.740 nautical miles. Her crew numbered 839 men. The Harvey made armour consisted of a 12,7-20,3cm/5-8” thick belt. a 5,1-7,6cm/2-3” thick deck with the conning tower protected by 30,5cm/12” thick armour. The armament consisted of 4x1-20,3cm/8”/45 Pattern 1892 guns, 16x1-15,2cm/6”/45 Patheen 1892guns, 12x1-7,5cm/3.0”/50 guns, 20x1-4,7cm/1.9” /45 guns, 18x1-3,7cm/1.5”/23 guns and 5-38,1cm/15” torpedo tubes.
