Danish navy building coastal defence ship Peder Skram according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1905-1906 no. 3


An item referred to the magazine Marine Rundschau dealing with the building of the Danish coastal defence ship Peder Skram (1) with as dimensions 84 x 15,7 x 4,86 metres and a displacement of 3.600 tons. The armour was mainly similar to the Olfert Fischer (2). The projected armament consisted of 2-24cm L/45 guns, 4-15cm l/50 guns and 6-7,5cm L/50 guns. In stead of her predecessors consisted the torpedo armament of a stern submerged launcher. If on board of the Skjold (3) the 3-12cm guns aft were replaced by 1-24cm gun would the Danish navy after commissioning the Peder Skram possessed a squadron of 4 similar cost defence ships.

1. Of the Herluf Trolle-class, laid down at the Royal Naval Dockyard, Copenhagen, Denmark on 25 April 1905, launched on 2 May 1908, commissioned on 24 September 1908, scuttled by own crew on 29 August 1943, salvaged by German forces and converted into training and anti aircraft ship Adler stationed at Kiel, Germany, sunk here due an allied aircraft attack, salvaged and brought towards Copenhagen, Denmark in September 1945 and finally sold on 1 April 1949 to be broken up,
2. Of the Herluf Trolle-class consisting of the Herluf Trolle, Olfert Fischer and Peder Skram, laid down at the Copenhagen Navy Yard, Denmark on 20 October 1900, launched on 9 May 1903, commissioned on 31 May 1905 and decommissioned on 17 October 1936.
3. Laid down at the Naval Dock, Copenhagen, Denmark in January 1894, launched on 8 May 1896, commissioned on 25 May 1897 and decommissioned on 21 May 1929.
