An item referred to the Naval and Military Record dated 21 January 1931 reporting that the value of Gibraltar as naval base was less compared with the past. Further more became Gibraltar more and more vulnerable for attacks of submarines and aircraft and the increased range of guns. Her strategically value was in fact very exaggerated and mainly resembling what was 50 years ago but which was now a memory.
